The Summit of Howth

Sitting proudly within Dublin Bay towards the north of the county this is a fishing village that has become a tourist attraction to delight. The head of Howth itself boasts a splendid cliff walk offering spectacular views out to sea and over to Ireland’s Eye, an uninhabited island which is available as a boat trip from the pier. Whatever time of day you make the trip to Howth ensure to sample the seafood, you’ll be spoiled for choice with restaurants but it’s a must-do if you’re in the area.

Malahide Castle & Gardens

The castle dates back to the 12th century and is set amongst spacious grounds where you can comfortably and happily wander for hours as you take in delights such as the walled gardens and the butterfly house. And, while you’re there a trip to the Avoca Café which includes a superb shop is also worth a look.

Trim Castle

The largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland which dates from the 12th and was selected as a primary shooting location for the film Braveheart, such is its character and striking imagery. Your guide will also share with you some of its unique secrets, not least how a medieval castle survived what were at times challenging periods in its history

Slane Castle

Here you’ll find the ruins of Slane Abbey, a 15th century friary church and college and the imposing 19m high remains of an early Gothic tower offering spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The natural landscape of Slane these days has made way for it to become a very unique venue for music concerts which boasts legendary acts amongst its history including U2, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen.
